Lucuma, also called "gold of the Incas", is the fruit of Pouteria lucuma, the most widespread and appreciated species of the Pouteria genus, and stands out for being an excellent natural sweetener. Originally from the Andean valleys of Peru, it is used mainly for the preparation of sweets, desserts and ice creams.
